Your Community, Your Future.

The way we live today, anything is available to you at your fingertips. It’s so easy to purchase anything online. So, does it really help you to shop local?Well, Yeah. There are several ways shopping local not only helps you as the consumer but the community you live in as well.

When you shop local…

    • You support local jobs and local entrepreneurship!
    • You make your community a destination!
    • You keep more money in the local economy!
    • You help the environment. Local business tend to source locally!
    • You conserve tax dollars!
    • You benefit from a knowledgeable source!

Those are 6 very beneficial reasons. Ones you will assist in developing your community and the one that directly assists you with your purchase.

We’ve all done this, buy something online, maybe because it’s cheaper or easier. Then you wait 3 weeks for it to get shipped to you to only then find out, it doesn’t fit, the color is not right, its so much smaller then in the ad. Have you then tried to rectify the situation and return/exchange the product? Calling long distance, drive all the way back there, or worse, can’t seem to get a hold of the right person.

” Can I return this, they don’t have my size… “

” Sorry, head office policy is exchange only, but You can pick another item “

How many people just end up keeping the unwanted item because its too much of a hassle? I know I have. I still have my “red “aka pink, iPad case I ordered last year sitting in my night table drawer.

At the end of the day its service. Local businesses provide better service period. Its our livelihood.

Now think of the time you last bought something from a local shop and experienced incredible customer service.

” This didn’t work out but I lost me receipt…”

          ”no problem”

or

” Hi, I bought this here a year ago and this clip broke….”

” No worries, grab a new one there off the shelf “

This is one huge advantage to the Shop Local movement. In the end its just easier calling Bob who owns the local florist then calling a 1-800 number and going through 3 departments to get a response like…”do you have the original packaging?” or “We will have someone in that department contact you”.

For your next purchase(s), please consider supporting local by shopping local. And here at NRG Style, we fit the mold perfectly. We shop from locally sourced and sustainable products. We give back to the community, we hire co-op students and local staff, we work with other local artisans and aim to provide the best customer service we possibly can.

A fun fact – For every $100 spent local, $68 is reinvested into the local community where if you buy from a large chain, only $14 is reinvested locally.

I will leave you with this quote I ran into a while back that I absolutely love…

-When you buy from a small business you are not helping a CEO buy a 3rd vacation home, you are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get his team jersey, a mom put food on the table, a dad pay a mortgage, or a student pay for college. – unknown

On that note, please shop local. It’s your community, and your future.
