The Charcuterie Board Craze

So, you have most likely seen them at trendy restaurants and laid out at the best of parties…

Charcuterie (Shar-Koo-Tuh-Ree) boards are becoming more and more popular by the day it seems. Common spreads include an array of cured meats, cheeses, fresh and dried fruits, nuts, crackers, breads, pickles, olives, jams and more! Don’t forget to add the wine! Variety is key to presenting a good charcuterie board. Its not only very easy to prepare, it is a great appetizer selection for any entertainer. After all, everyone eats with their eyes first, and that’s one of the main stand-out qualities of making one, it’s a guaranteed talk of the party based on visuals alone.

Now, the assortment of food itself is nothing without it being served on an attractive base. Our favorite hardwoods used for charcuterie boards include locally sourced walnut, hard maple and exotic Italian olive-wood. They are beautiful and more importantly durable. Every board we design and cut is thought out in order to maximize the character of the wood grain. Each one if sanded to a very fine grit and receives a generous coat of our favorite mineral oil, then polished to give it a very high-end finish. We here at NRG Style also customize boards with beautiful epoxy to either fill natural voids in the piece of wood or to fill a precise cut out.We commonly use the maple leaf or an olive as one of our favorites but do any logos requested as well; great branding from a business standpoint, or customization for personal use. Initials, dates and even images can be burned into the board alternatively.

Charcuterie board popularity and sales are on the rise and we have seen several go out our doors as gifts for weddings and housewarmings. With design trends focused on rustic and reclaimed looks, there is something special about displaying a beautiful, natural piece of character wood when not in use and even more special when using it during your entertaining. To take care of your board, never place it in the dishwasher, simply wipe clean with mild soap and water or a 50/50 water and vinegar mixture. Depending on how often its used, if the board starts to look dry, re-coating it with mineral oil can be done at anytime to bring it back to life.
